Staying safe in the sun
As the Show is in the middle of the summer it can be very hot.
So wear a hat, appropriate clothing and sunglasses for protection when the sun’s strong.
Wear sunscreen and reapply regularly, use at least factor SPF 15 with a high star rating.
Spend time in the shade when the sun is at its strongest, 11am-3pm. There are plenty of areas to explore such as the Discovery Zone which can provide shade and entertainment.
Don’t get caught out in the car, carry sunscreen and water for the journey
Keep a handy-sized bottle of sunscreen in your bag or buy one at the show.
Protect young skin which is easily sunburnt. Wear t shirts/long sleeves and hats and apply sunscreen to protect exposed areas. Take regular breaks in the shade for a game or cool drink. Attach a parasol to your buggy to protect infants from the strong sun.
Stay hydrated, drink lots of fluids. Water is on sale throughout the Showground.
See medical attention if you feel unwell. St John’s Ambulance provide first aid services around the showground, Medical Officers are on duty in the First Aid centre in the MacGregor building next to the Police HQ .
