King’s Troop to perform at The Royal Norfolk Show

In their only appearance outside of London this year, the Royal Norfolk Show is excited to announce The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery to the show on 28 and 29 June 2017.

In a jaw-dropping display, showgoers will be able to witness the power and skill of ‘The Troops’ soldiers who drive a team of six horses to pull six First World War ‘thirteen pounder’ state saluting guns.

Stationed at Woolwich, ‘The Troop’ is an integral part of the Household Troops.  Their duties include the firing of Royal Salutes in Hyde Park and Green Park on Royal Anniversaries and State Occasions, providing a gun carriage and team of black horses for State and Military funerals and performing the world famous musical drive around the country.

The Troop also performs the duties of the Queen’s Life Guard at Horse Guards for one month each year. The King’s Troop men and women are trained as fighting soldiers and throughout the Afghanistan campaign augment other units deploying overseas.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery at this year’s show in their 70th year,” says Mark Nicholas, Show Director.  “This is an extremely proud moment for the county as it is their only appearance in the UK, outside of London, this year.

“Their unique display means showgoers will not have seen anything like this before and I can guarantee that their performance will be worth the entry price alone.”

The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery will perform in The Grand Ring on both days of the show.

More than 80,000 people are expected to attend this year’s Royal Norfolk Show on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 of June to celebrate Norfolk at its best.  Online tickets for this year’s Show are on sale now, advance tickets can only be bought from the Royal Norfolk Show website www.royalnorfolkshow.co.uk
