Equine – what’s new for 2017!

The largest two-day agricultural show in the country, the Royal Norfolk Show (28 and 29 June 2017), will this year feature a host of new and exciting equine competitions.

Equine highlights

Regarding equine, there will be over 200 equine classes, including 125 Light Horse classes, 54 heavy classes and 8 Show Jumping competitions, including the exciting Ride and Drive and the prestigious International Stairway League.

New for 2017 will be the Irish Draught (ID) Horses Section to be held in the Wensum ring on the Wednesday afternoon, two In Hand classes, an In Hand Championship, two Ridden classes and a Ridden Championship. Plus, the highest placed ID horse in the two ridden classes will qualify for The Blue Chip and IDHS (GB) £2000 Challenge at the Annual Breed Show at Arena UK (Lincolnshire) in August.

The Royal Norfolk Show is also one of very few shows in the country this year hosting competitions for ALL FOUR main breeds of Heavy Horse – Suffolk, Shire, Percheron and Clydesdale.

The show will also feature a record number of Horse of the year Show (HOYS) qualifiers and a host of new HOYS, including the Shire HOYS Championships, Partbred Pony-Ridden qualifier and Junior M&M-Ridden qualifier.
